FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
🔁 What is a referral program?
A referral program lets you invite others to use a product or service, and in return, you and/or the person you invite receive a reward (e.g. bonus in euros, crypto, free items, credits…).
👉 In most cases, you don’t have to apply, register, or do anything special. Once you create an account on a platform that offers referrals, your referral link or code is available directly in your account settings.
- ✅ Accessible to: Anyone with a user account on the platform
- 🎁 Rewards: Often fixed bonuses (e.g. €10, free credits, discounts)
- 🧾 Requirements: Usually none — sometimes the referred person must complete an action (like a deposit)
- 🔓 Approval needed: ❌ No
- 🛠 Example platforms: Coinbase, Binance, Finary, ...
You can share your referral link privately or publicly (e.g. via Twitter, forums, YouTube…).
🔗 What is an affiliate program?
An affiliate program is a marketing tool that allows you to promote products or services and earn commissions based on what people do through your links (sign up, buy, download…).
👉 You usually need to:
- Apply through the brand’s website
- Or join a dedicated affiliate platform such as: CJ Affiliate, Impact, Awin, PartnerStack, Amazon Associates
- Or contact a company directly to request access to their affiliate system
- ✅ Accessible to: Creators, influencers, bloggers, marketers
- 🎁 Rewards: Mostly commissions (fixed or % of sale)
- 🧾 Requirements: Application required, and sometimes traffic/reach is reviewed
- 🔓 Approval needed: ✅ Yes (most of the time)
- 📌 Examples: Amazon, HP, Lenovo, ...
These programs are ideal for people who create content and want to monetize their audience through public promotion.
❓What can I actually earn from a referral or affiliate program?
It depends on the program. It can be money, crypto, discount codes, in-game items, or even free services. We try to estimate the reward whenever possible and show it clearly on each listing.
❓Why do companies offer these referral rewards?
Because it’s cheaper and more effective than traditional advertising. Happy users tend to bring in better customers than ads. That’s why platforms often reward both the person inviting and the one joining.
❓I’m a small creator. Can I use affiliate marketing?
Yes — and you have two main options: referral or affiliate programs.
🔁 Referral programs are the easiest way to start. You usually don’t need to apply or be approved. If you have an account on a platform related to your content (e.g. Binance if you're creating crypto content), you can often access your referral link directly in your account settings and share it with your audience.
🔗 Affiliate programs can offer more earning potential, but they may require an application — and in some cases, a minimum number of followers or a content review. These programs are typically managed through affiliate platforms like CJ Affiliate, Impact, Awin, or directly through a brand’s website.
Affiliathor helps you discover both types of opportunities, and will soon include beginner-friendly guides to help you get started — even if you're just launching your channel on Twitch, YouTube, or Instagram.
❓What platforms can I use to create affiliate links?
Some examples include:
- CJ Affiliate
- Impact
- Awin
- Amazon Associates
Affiliathor will provide tutorials soon to help you register and start using them, step by step.
❓Are these links verified?
Yes. Every link is manually checked before it’s published. We also show the estimated reward, the difficulty level, and what the referred person needs to do.
❓Do you earn money from these links?
Sometimes, yes — if the program rewards the referrer. But our goal is to be transparent and helpful, and we always show who earns what: you, me, or both.
❓Can I submit my own referral link?
Not yet — but it’s planned. For now, you can suggest a program via @AffiliathorWeb on Twitter, and we’ll handle the verification and formatting.
❓How are programs selected?
Right now, I hand-pick each one based on clarity, reputation, and usefulness. Eventually, users will be able to suggest and rate programs — but everything will remain manually verified.
